40 Suggestions for the new PM

  1. You have 36 months to implement your ideas/policies
    1. Time is not your ally
    2. A shattered India has placed all its hope in you.  You’d be lucky if you receive a 100 day honeymoon period
  2. Taming Inflation should be Job #1
  3. Campaign for 2019 begins on May 17th
  4. You need 5 years to save India, 10 years to bring prosperity and 15 years to make the process irreversible
  5. Your administration will need to run along three parallel rails
    1. Provider a more efficient mai-baap
      1. Implement ‘Garib Kalyan Melas’ across the nation (more on this later)
      2. Yes that is a ‘leftist’ , ‘socialist’ idea but that is precisely what works on a political level
    2. Implement long term Right wing policies
      1. Infrastructure development
      2. Liberalization
      3. River linking
      4. FDI, Etc.
    3. Pursue the corrupt and bring them to justice
      1. Focus on providing a more efficient mai-baap in your first year while creating ground work for the latter two objectives
    4. Once people experience benefits of an efficient mai-baap administration, they will be amenable to the other two (more right wing) initiatives
  6. Going after the corrupt
    1. Hunt them down, but away from public gaze
    2. As Shourieji said in an interview with Shekhar Gupta “Do it silently and pounce when you have the facts and proof”
    3. Go public with the hunt only after BJP govt has delivered on key economic objectives
    4. A hunt without development carries the risk of bringing sympathy to a beleaguered Sonia clan
  7. The first 5 years should be about simple yet effective solutions which bring succor to India’s voters within a very short period of time
  8. Indians have a short memory
    1. Come 2018 and all UPA scams will be a distant memory unless NDA 2 performs and exceeds expectations
  9. Lower expectations in two ways
      1. Create a charge sheet against UPA.  A white paper on where India stands on May 16th 2014 – Inflation, militarily, politically, etc.
      2. Update manifesto by focusing on (and publicizing) low hanging fruits – Price rise, jobs, etc.
      3. At every juncture remind people where we were on May 16th and how far we have travelled
      4. Set the stage by educating people on state of the nation – get an independent body to show level of prices (inflation), jobs being created, air quality, defense preparedness, etc.  So that improvements can be shown in the next election cycle
      5. This will also give BJP ammunition in case of any setbacks such as military aggression by China and Pakistan
  10. Priyanka will be a factor in 2019 and so will Kejriwal
    1. Indians forgive and forget easily
    2. Start preparing for them
  11. Work on capturing municipal and local bodies in opposition ruled states.  Use these local bodies to channel direct central assistance
    1. Mulayam, Mamta, Naveen, etc. will not support NDA government’s initiatives
    2. And even if they do, they will want to share credit for all your good work
    3. You cannot afford to go to war with them.  Blame game won’t work.  Moreover, time and energy wasted on such battles will expend your hard earned political capital
      1. Instead circumvent their power by capturing local bodies
      2. Fighting them for control of chief ministership will take time.  A luxury you don’t have
      3. People need results soon, local bodies can deliver them
  12. Trap regional satraps in their own web
    1. Example:  Announce a large industrial project in (say) Bihar.  Now Nitish will have to either approve it or oppose it.  If he opposes it, start creating a storm over his opposition
    2. If he supports it, rapidly implement the project
    3. In either case BJP will have a good case to present to the people of Bihar: “If you want even speedier progress and development put a BJP CM in patna
  13. Hand over battles against UPA looters to SC controlled and monitored independent bodies (as you have promised)
    1. Give them resources and freedom
    2. Ensure that BJP leaders and supporters who supported UPA in their loot are also caught in the net.  It will give the crusade much needed credibility
    3. Be willing to sacrifice a few BJP pawns to check mate Congress’ Queen and her brood
  14. Split UP and other large states into smaller states but start with UP first
    1. It will allow for better administration
    2. People of these states will experience progress/change at a local level
    3. It will provide you the space to install BJP CMs in these new states
    4. It will prevent emergence of a political rival with command over large chunk of 30-40 seats
  15. Work silently to dismantle leftist infrastructure across Indian academia and media
    1. Create parallel alternatives whilst simultaneously starving JNU type institutions of funds and credibility
  16. Create a kit for each segment and distribute these via national level ‘Garib Kalyan Melas’
    1. Example:  A kit for a rural household could include the following
      1. A standalone Solar kit (panel + batter) to power a home with 2-3 rooms
      2. One head of cattle
      3. MNREGA funds to create simple water harvesting assets such as check dams, trenches, wells, etc.
      4. Two bicycles
      5. A Water-less toilet
    2. Example: A kit for primary schools

      2. MNREGA funds
      3. Mid-day meals with partnership with NGOs such as Akshay Patra
      4. Solar based power
      5. Adopt the Ekal Vidhayala model
    3. Such kits will allow for development to reach people within a few months as against a few years
  17. Leapfrog western nations through innovation: Make innovation the corner stone of your govt.
    1. Solar roads, Graphene based products, nano tech, etc. are providing efficient and economically viable alternatives to outdated technologies and processes currently prevalent in the West and even China
    2. India represents virgin territory on various infrastructure fronts.  Look for the latest in technology so that solutions implemented in the next 5 years can remain state-of-the-art for the next 25-30 years
    3. From tele medicine to online education India needs to learn from the West and leap frog to the 21st century
  18. Eschew 5 year plans for 25 year plans
    1. All infrastructure projects should be implemented keeping this time horizon in mind
    2. Establish annual milestones but the planning should be such that infrastructure can be expanded keeping in mind a 25 year demand cycle
  19. Sangh Parivar should be charged with implementing 2-3 long term projects
    1. Emulate the Catholic Church in building a nationwide network of educational institutions and healthcare facilities
    2. Note: The Church is the second largest provider of healthcare in America (after the govt.)
    3. Such projects will help keep the Sangh occupied and away from needless mischief
  20. Social reform
    1. Best way to defeat fundamentalism and bring social reform is to promote women’s power
    2. Suggestion:  Offer ‘Girls only’ schools and colleges across the nation
    3. As you have done in Gujarat, flood the country with new schools and college which in turn will strike at the heart of reservation based caste differences
    4. Use social reform as a long term political tool to neutralize the Mayas and Mulayams of Indian Politics
  21. As you have done in Gujarat take special care of the girl child – dedicated schools, colleges, employment opportunity, reservations at every level

    3. A subtle campaign could do wonders to help bring people to the Hindu fold

  23. Stay away from needless controversies
    1. Instead of banning Valentine’s day, etc. promote an Indian version of the same and have it celebrated in traditional Indian fashion
      1. Much as festival of Holi has been coopted by America to create ‘Color me Rad’ India needs to adopt popular western festival and offer an Indian alternative
    2. Instead of changing school books to promote the correct picture of Indian history help the Sangh rapidly expand its own network of schools where this history can be taught

  29. Stress growth with environment protection

    2. Such simple measures come with an added benefit of generating great PR for the new government at a global level
  30. Discredit the media
    1. Take away all govt. provided privileges so as to trigger a media backlash
    2. Once this backlash is established, media will be exposed for the favors it gathered from Gandhi family and media’s credibility will be irreversibly damaged
